About Our Cambodia Journeys
The Best of Cambodia
During the 12th Century peak of the Khmer Empire, Angkor was the largest city in the world, with a population of over one million. You will visit the most significant remaining structures of the Khmer Civilization, while learning about local culture and history.
Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world and its vast array of intricately detailed murals and carvings are as impressive as the scale of the temple complex.
Visiting the Bayon Temple is a surreal experience and the temple’s towering four faced spires are a testament to the artistic and architectural prowess of the Khmer people.
Angkor Thom is a vast complex of temples and ruins, including the Royal Palace, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. One could spend hours here exploring the different sites and learning about the history of the Khmer Empire.
You will wander through Ta Prohm Temple where the massive roots of banyan trees entwine with the stone walls, creating a stunning fusion of nature and human craftsmanship. It is instantly recognizable to those who saw the original Tomb Raider.
Beng Malea is a temple complex located deep in the jungle and surrounded by beautiful scenery. This temple is a true hidden gem, and its intricate carvings and impressive architecture will leave you in awe.
Banteay Srei stands out for its beautiful pink sandstone carvings. This temple is smaller than most of the others but it is no less impressive. Known as the Citadel of Women, the beauty of the Apsaras carved into its pink sandstone walls is timeless.
Tonle Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, and boasts a diverse ecosystem that is incredibly scenic and home to a diverse variety of plant, animal and bird life. Tonle Sap Lake’s vast basin provides sustenance to 4.5 million Cambodians, and a cruise through Chong Kneas floating village is a wonderful way to witness the daily life of such locals. The interesting village is built on stilts, including all its community structures such as houses, schools, and markets.
Phnom Penh can be added to any Southeast Asia journey. The experiences of most significance here are visits to the impossible to comprehend Killing Fields and the related Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Other experiences can be visits to Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace and the National Museum of Cambodia. For those interested in history, The city is also home to many stunning temples, such as Wat Phnom and the Silver Pagoda. A tour of the busy markets and bustling narrow streets can be of interest to some guests.
The Angkor Region in Unparalleled Luxury
Phum Baitang is a boutique luxury resort located on the outskirts of Siem Reap and our favorite lodging in the Angkor Region. Your pool villa will have a private terrace overlooking the paddy fields and/or the beautiful gardens. We recommend their spa treatments, cooking classes and other activities, and adding additional days should be considered.
Other excellent lodging options in Siem Reap include the Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor, the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, and the Amansara. They all offer exceptional amenities and services, including luxurious accommodations, interesting activities and dining experiences, and good spas.
In Phnom Penh, suites at the historic Raffles Hotel Le Royal are our favorite abode for their comfort and ambiance, and the hotel’s central location and pleasant surroundings only add to its charm. The most luxurious lodging in Phnom Penh is the fairly new Rosewood Phnom Penh, a gleaming tower with luxury suites that have great city views, top service, and all other facilities that you can ask for.
Unravel the Mysteries of Angkor with excellent Guides
Your Guide will happily share their knowledge and passion for Cambodia’s rich history, culture, and traditions. Excursions to Angkor’s attractions are always a treat for your eyes with the lush, verdant jungles and impressive temple ruins merging seamlessly. You will be captivated by the mystical aura that permeates the air in less visited areas. From the serenity of Preah Khan to the hauntingly beautiful Ta Prohm, every corner of the Angkor Region has a story to tell. In and around the temple complexes at Angkor, ancient stones and vibrant greenery coexist harmoniously, unaffected by their recent fame as uncountable visitors now use them as backdrops.
