Day 6. Bandhavgarh – Kanha
Overnight – Banjaar Tola
Enjoy your last private jeep wildlife safari into the park this morning. After this you will return to your lodge to freshen up and enjoy breakfast. After checking-out you will proceed on the drive through jungles and rural areas to Kanha Tiger Reserve. A packed lunch is provided by your lodge for the journey.
Trehan Journeys recommends that, while planning your dates, you keep in mind the fact that there are no safaris on Wednesday afternoons at Bandhavgarh and Kanha. So, this 5 hour jungle drive should ideally be scheduled for a Wednesday. However, if this is not possible, there are many other activities available at the lodges, such as village and nature walks.
Arrive at Kanha, the setting for Kipling’s Jungle Book, and you are greeted by the Taj Safaris Jungle camp staff and assisted with your check-in to your gorgeous elevated tent on the riverbank.
Kanha is one of India’s largest National Parks and many wildlife enthusiasts consider it to be Asia’s finest Park. One of the India’s greatest conservation successes – saving the Barasingha (Swamp Deer) was accomplished here.
The Park covers an area of 1945 square kilometres, including a core zone of 940 square kilometres. It is a beautiful part of India’s jungles, with lightly wooded grassland and many streams and rivers. It is the home of a variety of animals including tiger, panther, and many species of deer, wild pig, bison, a variety of monkeys and other animals, as well as some 200 species of birds. It is obviously a part of ‘Project Tiger,’ one of India’s most important conservation efforts.
